cond ranger title

Killerx here to help guide you on the role of PvP conditioning as a Ranger. A little warning in advance: This is a heavy conditions build. You will do amazing bleed damage but there is little room to no room for anything else in the build besides these condition abilities and pets. In this guide I will explain how to build and play as a Ranger with this setup. As a condition Ranger, you apply conditions by using ranged weapons like Shortbow (1200) and Axe/Dagger (900). Anything else except these weapons and setup will not get you the heavy condition damage you want.

A condition Ranger depends on the Shortbow as a primary weapon. They only use their secondary weapons when in a 1 vs. 1 situation or when they are able to come closer to the battle area for high burst damage. This is generally only when mobility is not an issue.

guardian bunker title

Hello! Killerx here to help guide you on the role of PvP Bunkering as a Guardian. The purpose of being a Bunker is to stay on a cap point and keep and defend it. You stay alive by using your abilities and avoiding enemy player attacks while holding your ground at your cap point. Make no mistake– you may die quite a bit– but that’s okay as long as you’re certain your team members are there to help win the day and and hold your team’s cap point.

Teamwork is essential to being a successful Bunker. Your team must have your back when necessary while you are defending. If your team is slacking off and they are not responding to your gurgling cries of help, try to stay alive as long as possible. Do not give your cap point away for free. Let the enemy work for it! Don’t ever forget that.

S01E22 title screen

This week we sit down with Mark Jacobs and discuss his Kickstarter project: Camelot Unchained. Our conversation ranges from what to expect in the game to going over his founding principles and getting to the bottom of what he wants his game to become. Camelot Unchained looks to bring old school RVR/PVP ideals to a modern game. While not shooting for a AAA game created to support millions of players; Mark Jacobs hopes to fashion a game for RVR players only. Not sacrificing design to make everyone happy, Camelot Unchained hopes to bring RVR to its niche market.

Keep reading to watch the interview.

We all have things we love about Guild Wars 2, places that make us cheer out and say “yes, this is my ultra-mega place!” We all have classes, abilities, and features we’re passionate about, either negatively or positively. This is a place to share all that. Once a month or so I’ll be raising a Guild Wars 2 question to the community– hopefully an interesting one– and we’ll share our opinions. I’ll start off with my opinion just to get the ball rolling, but these questions will not have any right or wrong answers, so feel free to argue with me to your heart’s content!

I think a lot of us were blown away when ArenaNet turned their April Fool’s Day gag– Super Adventure Box– and turned it into a full-fledged event complete with its own story, 8-bit world and system, novelty items, and rewards. For those of us who grew up in the 8-bit era, the whole thing is a bittersweet trip down nostalgia lane, and ArenaNet, frankly, did an awesome job integrating an 8-bit world into the Guild Wars 2 world we’re already familiar with it. It was a taste of the odd, a taste of the fun, and for most of us, it was refreshing to have a mini-game that gave us so many completely different options to explore. Yes, I will break all those pots and bounce around collecting shinies, thank you very much.

The potential problem with this awesome mini-game distraction, however, is the fact that at the end of the day, Super Adventure Box is still a game within a game. It’s a fun little adventure that distracts us from what we’d normally take part in during our time spent in the game. Distraction can be fun, but at some point, many of us kind of find ourselves stepping back and wondering, “okay, now what?” Can you ever have too many shinies and mini-games within a game?

post lost shores

Are you that guy (or gal!) who all your guildmates come to in search of trait, stat, and weapon build advice? Do you consider yourself an expert on your profession and which builds to use when? Have you had experience writing up profession guides? How would you like to share that knowledge with thousands of viewers?

You might just be in luck. Guild Wars 2 Junkies is looking to add a few more enthusiastic, talented volunteer writers to our team. We’re specifically looking for profession experts this time around, but if something else is your area of expertise, you’re more than welcome to drop us a line! All that we ask is that you’re a true fan of Guild Wars 2 and can show us that you know a thing or two about writing. You’re more than welcome to set your own schedule and write whenever your feel inspired. If you do an awesome, consistent job, there may even be opportunities for this to become a paid position.

If you have any questions or would like to apply to become a writer for Junkies Nation and Guild Wars 2 Junkies, please feel free to contact Jason Dodge at dreagon@rerollz.net or Laura Hardgrave at laurah@rerollz.com. Make sure to have a writing sample handy when you contact us!

Catch up this week as we have a roundtable discussion with Ridculy of Knights of the Temple, Slade of Lords of the Dead and Jonalynne of Herfolge Boldklub (say that 10x fast).

Is WvW ranks creating too many zergs? Is there less incentive to play the game now as it was intended?

We talk about SABs, Wildstar, TESO and the future of PVP in the MMORPG genre.

super adventure box title

Get your 8-bit on, folks! Here’s a preview of all of the weapon and item skins you can grab in today’s brand new Guild Wars 2 event called Super Adventure Box. This time around we have a cool selection of weapon skins and a few extra goodies to collect. Now, one thing to make note of upfront– there are quite a few weapons skins missing for the event. There are no pistols, rifles, 2-handed hammers, 1-handed maces, daggers, warhorns, axes, torches, or focuses. It’s really a shame about the missing pistol skin, especially, because there are some iconic models ArenaNet could have played with. The development team did issue the following statement, however:

We are a very small team. The more skins we made, the less stuff we could make in the Box. So we settled for a minimal set, with plans to add to it with each new World we release. I love Engies and I wish we could have served them and Thieves better this time around, but had to make some tough choices.

Now, on to the skins currently available and their previews. Keep reading to take a peek!

charr overlook

During this past weekend’s PAX East, ArenaNet held a question and answer session with the press. The subject of future content releases came up quite a bit, understandably, and we found out a few interesting bits of information:

  • While we won’t be seeing a Guild Wars 2 expansion in the near future, we may see new skills, new traits, and new maps to explore. These are all possible content additions that may be within future major patch updates.
  • Overall, the ArenaNet team is beginning to shift over to a content release schedule that focuses on getting content updates out there as they are developed, not as they are planned for the long term. This is part of the reason why the team has been a little hesitant to announce update details months in advance.
  • Most of the new content will focus on endgame and the higher levels.
  • The next few months should add additional content for WvWers to enjoy.
  • ArenaNet is fully anticipating that WvW players will immediately feel that the new WvW progression system being added this coming week will take too long to complete. This is intentional. The team would rather have a progression system that feels a little slow and then possibly adjust it at a later date than have a system that players race through far too quickly.
  • The story of Orr isn’t over yet!
  • Custom PvP arenas and spectator mode are both coming in the near future.
  • Town clothing will eventually be expanded a bit and will allow players to don it at any time as long as they are out of combat.
  • In general, ArenaNet will continue to make content that appeals to all players. Smaller guilds will see improvements to guild missions for this reason. Dungeons will also continue to receive improvements for the same reason.

Head on over to Massively’s PAX writeup for more details!
