Isaiah Cartwright shared some specifics as to what changes we’ll be seeing when the new dungeon and champion rewards system goes live during the August 6th Queen’s Jubilee update. The goal with the increased rewards for dungeon completions seems to be to encourage players to explore all of the various paths of a given dungeon:

“To reach these goals, we’ve made a few tweaks to the way dungeon completion is rewarded. Moving forward, the full reward for individual dungeon paths will be on a one-day timer, making it more lucrative to run multiple paths than repeating a single path. This should also increase the rewards for people who only do one dungeon a day. Story dungeons will award 50 silver for completion, and explorable dungeons will award between 1 and 3 gold depending on length and difficulty. As we go on with our project of updating our existing dungeons, we’ll monitor the changes to paths and update the rewards accordingly.”

Champion rewards will be tailored to what type of champion mob is killed. They will feature a more varied collection of loot and ideally give players plenty of reasons to hunt them down. Check out the full developer blog for more information.

Guild Wars 2‘s next major update is right around the corner, and this time we’re going to be seeing a bit of a celebration across Tyria– complete with hot air balloon rides! Queen’s Jubilee begins August 6th and is a celebration of ten years of Queen Jennah’s rule in Divinity’s Reach. Players will be able to join the festivities by hot air balloon and take part in an opening ceremony, a race course involving lighting torches, conquering of a new mini-zone, and the Queen’s Gauntlet– a special arena featuring increasingly-difficult boss fights. As always, there are plenty of rewards to grab in this event.

The following features will also be added with this update: an account-wide currency wallet, the ability to queue up for competitive PvP matches solo, bonus rewards for dungeons, champion loot updates, a new mini-game rotation system, permanent finishers, and more. necro title

This is a Necromancer build for competitive PvP with a medium level of damage output and a high level of damage absorbtion plus minions, crowd control, and the ability to roam with a constant swiftness buff. The required skill to effectively play this build is about average. It deals damage at a range of melee to 900 yards, offers high survivability, tons of mobility, and can also assist with bunkering. It’s a very versatile build.

The attractive aspect of this build is that you can fill in multiple roles while having a great PvP experience. The main point of this build rests purely on maintaining your pets and auto attacking constantly to stay in the game. More on this later! Let’s go over the basics first.

EQNJunkies Welcom

We are please to announce our latest arm of the Junkies Nation Network: EQNext Junkies! It has been our long tradition to launch and cover the latest and greatest MMORPGs coming out on the internet. It’s been a long while in coming, but it’s finally here. We are dedicated to bring you the latest news, opinion, guides, community coverage when it comes to Everquest Next.

Everquest Next is the next installment of the MMORPG that started it all fourteen years ago. From the origins of hardcore online gaming to this new iteration, EQNext promises to show us something new. EQNext’s design has been scrapped twice to it’s final form that has been decried the anti-themepark. EQ Next will bring promises of sandbox and emergent gameplay, what that means, we don’t know but all will be revealed at SOE’s Fanfaire on August 2nd.

SOE has been very tightlipped when it comes to information, but that hasn’t stopped speculation based on a myriad of Smedley tweets. The most ardent fans have come to believe that this game will bring together EVE-like gampelay mixed with the dungeon delving game of yester-year. Is the internet ready for EVE with fireballs and elves?

wvw changes title

If you’ve ever wished PvP could become a little more competitive and e-sport friendly in Guild Wars 2, you’re in luck. ArenaNet announced the details for Guild Wars 2‘s Regional Qualifying and Invitational Tournaments yesterday, where competitive PvP teams will be able to sign up and possibly compete for cash prizes!

The final invitational tournament event will be held on August 31st during PAX Prime and will be live streamed by MMORPG.com. To sign up, teams will have to register to be able to compete in the action.

looking ahead 2013

Ever since the recent announcement about ArenaNet increasing their pace of new content and Living World updates for Guild Wars 2, players have been speculating as to what this means exactly in the large-scale scope of things. The team has answered a great deal of the community’s questions with this recent, huge developer blog.

Besides Living World updates, the return of some of our favorite holiday events, and new content to explore every two weeks, we’ll be seeing some interesting new features and changes for the rest of 2013:

  • We’ll be seeing new skills and traits along with new ways to earn these traits and more skill points.
  • We’ll be getting a rehash of some of the ways we earn rewards. This includes champion loot, dungeon bonus completion rewards, and new crafting material rewards.
  • Speaking of crafting, all crafting professions will jump up to 500 skill level! Crafters will be able to make ascended gear at level 500.
  • Magic Find will be made into an account-wide stat that’s based off achievement points and can be also adjusted with the help of consumable items.
  • We’ll be seeing new Legendary items as well as new ways to collect precursors for Legendaries.
  • WvW will see a replacement for the original WvW orb mechanic on the borderlands map.
  • It sounds like there may be some new rewards added for competitive PvP.
  • Oh, yes, and an LFG tool.

Starting July 23rd, Guild Wars 2 launches its next major update with with, well, a bit of a campaign. A political campaign, that is. Kiel and Gnashblade will be going head to head to secure a lucrative trade agreement with the merchants of the Zephyr Sanctum, and they’re going to need our help. Players will be able to use Support Tokens and coins to help out their favorite candidates. There will be in-game rewards, of course, that each candidate will offer as part of their campaign.

Ellen Kiel says:

  • “I’ll reduce waypoint travel prices for four weeks’ time
  • I’ll support important Fractals of the Mists research into the Thaumanova Reactor explosion by the end of the year
  • I’ll introduce a rotating schedule of activities such as Crab Toss and Southsun Survival.”

And Evon Gnashblade offers:

  • “I’ll slash prices on Black Lion Keys for four whole weeks
  • I’ll sponsor important Fractals of the Mist research into the Fall of Abaddon, to be completed by the end of the year
  • I’ll host a rotation of popular activities like Crab Toss and Southsun Survival.”

We’ll also be recieving some other interesting updates, including a new survival competitive map with rewards, a new PvP arena, a new solo challenge, and another new WvW ability line. For more information, check out the newly-released information page.

unlikely expansion title

I think it’s pretty safe to say that for many of us, one of the coolest parts about ArenaNet’s new ramped-up content release schedule is not only the new quests, rewards, and mini-games, but the new music, concept art, and gorgeous scenery that accompany each update. Guild Wars 2 has a fantastic team of composers that really do help each update come alive in a well-crafted way.

Yesterday ArenaNet updated their awesome SoundCloud page with two of the tracks from the Bazaar of the Four Winds update. While there, you can preview the tracks for free and even give them a download.

Yesterday we received a new developer blog with more information and some interesting developer backstory about the brand new PvP map coming in Guild Wars 2‘s next big update: Bazaar of the Four Winds. The new map is called Skyhammer and will contain a massive, experimental asura canon, jumping platforms, and destructible floor tiles. On top of, you know, the normal dangers of PvP. Intrigued yet?

“Skyhammer is a Conquest map with three capture points,” Game designer Tyler Bearce explains. “We’ve added three secondary mechanics to the map to keep things dangerous: jump pads, shattering floor panels, and the Skyhammer cannon itself.”

Bearce and environment artist Darrin Claypool have been working on the Skyhammer map with the PvP team on-and-off for 4 months now.

“We’ve been working on it for 4 months on and off, doing a lot of iteration, trying to get it right,” Bearce says. “Of course, we work on multiple maps at a time – but this one is special. I think players are really going to respond well to Skyhammer.”

unlikely expansion title

Yesterday, Eurogamer reported that Guild Wars 2 lead content designer Mike Zadorojny stated in an interview that ArenaNet is not currently looking to make an expansion for the game. Here’s the quote:

“So right now we’re not really looking at expansions as an option,” lead content designer Mike Zadorojny told me on his visit to London last week.

“It’s something that’s on the table but it’s not something we’re focused on, because what we want to do is – our idea here is that with Living World, we can do what expansions would have done but do it on a more regular basis.”

I pressed him to tell me whether there would be a Guild Wars 2 expansion this year and he shook his head to indicate no. What about next year, I asked?

“If we do this right,” he answered, “we will probably never do an expansion and everything will be going into this Living World strategy.”
